Emu in Perspective
Published in Hardcover by Financial Times Prentice Hall (June, 1999)
Authors: Deborah Owen, Peter Cole, and Leon Brittan
Average review score:

The Best Book Available on the Monetary Union of Europe
This book is an absolute must reading for those who are interested in gaining an indept understanding the Monetary Alliance between a broad spread of countries. The book is written in easy to understand terms where each country is discussed separately. I must say I was a little worried it would be over my head but was delightfully refreshed to find out it was an easy read. This is MUST read for anyone in the financial community.

Engineering Mechanics
Published in Textbook Binding by HarperCollins (April, 1975)
Author: Ferdinand Leon, Singer
Average review score:

A very good book, particularly for dynamics
I used this book in my undergraduate course in mechanics. In India, we use the metric system exclusively and the initial hurdle was often getting the right answers in US customary units. Inspite of the US's adamancy in sticking to fps units, metric has its own advantages. You need not use W/g where mass is involved and secondly, no confusion over the units for the acceleration due to gravity. The part on dynamics is very good and detailed. It must be however be noted that the branch of mechanics is very old and you could find any number of books that will explain the concepts equally well. Some of the problems are also really good. I had friends who used to feel smug after solving all problems in the chapter and finding that the results match with the authors'. And in a course like mechanics, that is a REAL confidence booster.

Escenas . . . Como de Pelicula Vieja
Published in Paperback by Tree House Publications (October, 1997)
Authors: Mapa Collazo, Saul Escobedo De Leon, and Felipe Davalos
Average review score:

One of the Best
This is one of the best series of commentaries I've found. Very useful.

Failed Multinational Ventures: The Political Economy of International Divestments
Published in Textbook Binding by Lexington Books (July, 1981)
Author: Leon Grunberg
Average review score:

Excellent book
This book is a scholarly and thorough analysis of failed multinational ventures. The work is superior to all other books on the subject, and very well-written. Grunberg is a very, very talented researcher and I look forward to reading his later works. The only comment I have is that his conclusion is very brief and could be reworked to include more depth. However, for anyone in the field, this book is highly recommmended!

Concise, solid answers to doctrinal questions.
This book is an excellent place to start when you are looking for solid answers to doctrinal questions. Faith Facts covers a wide range of topics, from birth control and the Real Presence in the Eucharist to papal authority, morality, apologetics, and more. The book is formatted in a question and answer layout with an appendix listing other resources for all of the topics covered. It is very easy to read and the answers are very thorough. The book has the Nihil Obstat and the Imprimatur. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Farewell to Salonica: City at the Crossroads
Published in Paperback by Paul Dry Books Inc (01 May, 2003)
Authors: Leon Sciaky and Peter Sciaky
Average review score:

A superbly written memoir
Farewell To Salonica: City At The Crossroads is the autobiography of Leon Sciaky and tells of his having grown up in Salonica (now called Thessaloniki), in Greece. A remarkable view of a place where Sephardic Jews, Greeks, Turks, Macedonians, Albanians, and Bulgarians all met, traded, and went about their daily lives. A superbly written memoir, Farewell to Salonica is a heartfelt, highly recommended testimony to a memorable city and a cultural mecca.

Fibromyalgia Syndrome: A Practitioner's Guide to Treatment
Published in Paperback by Churchill Livingstone (November, 1999)
Author: Leon Chaitow
Average review score:

Fibromyalgia Syndrome: A Practitioner's Guide to Treatment
Whether you treat people with Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) or you have been diagnosed with FMS, Leon Chaitow's "Fibromyalgia Syndrome: A Practioner's Guide to Treatment" may be exactly what you have been seeking. As a person living with FMS--who has read MUCH about this topic--I can tell you that this book is the best thing going. This practioner's guide is especially good for those familiar with "medicalese." But, even if you're a "beginner" with FMS who simply wants to help educate those on your health care team (physicians, massage therapists, chiropractors, etc.), owning this book will allow you to lend it to your practioners. I have no doubt that, after they have seen your copy, they will want to purchase their own.

In "Fibromyalgia Syndrome: A Practioner's Guide to Treatment," Chaitow briefly describes a number of theories about FMS, discusses the validity of these, and explains the treatments that flow from the theories. Some of the treatments can be accomplished by persons with FMS; others require the cooperation of practioners on the health care team. Treatments are described in detail, supplemented with illustrations.

Kudos to Leon Chaitow for this fine work!

The First and Second Epistles to the Thessalonians
Published in Hardcover by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company (June, 1991)
Authors: Leon Morris and Frederick Fyvie Bruce
Average review score:

The First and Second Epistles to the Thessalonians (NICNT)
Morris' exegetical work is phenomenal! He paints vivid pictures of not only the Thessalonians themselves, but also the extent of Paul's thoughts and devotion toward these young and dynamic believers. This commentary proved not only useful and thought provoking, but accessible and lucid. Every serious student of the scriptures must attain a copy. Morris has once again hit a grand-slam.

The First Five Years of the Communist International
Published in Paperback by Pathfinder Press (October, 1997)
Author: Leon Trotsky
Average review score:

We need this for today
Fascism, economic crisis, wars, the rebellion of the peoples of Central Asia, the conflict of Europe versus America, all of these current issues are taken up in Volumes I & II of this book. Get them both! These are speeches given to the Communist International by one of its greatest leaders. They unmask the lies and distortions the anticommunists have identifying Stalinism with communism. Read these speeches if you want to know the nuts and bolts, the strategy and tactics, and the way to organize, not for the past when these speeches were given, but for the our present where we need these ideas.
